My favorite spanish wine............Valserrano Reserva 2004

Valserrano Reserva is a Rioja. This is a full bodied spanish red wine.  We enjoyed this recently with my Bolognese sauce and again last night with my Spanish Lamb recipe.  It is rated an 88 by wine spectator, yet is fairly inexpensive.  We really enjoy the complexity of this wine along with its silkiness.  Valserrano is from the Rioja area of Northern Spain, the home of some of Spain's best and most famous wines.  Rioja wines tend to be made in a Bordeaux style.  It is influenced by French families who migrated to Rioja in the late 1800's after Phylloxera struck the Bordeaux vineyards.  Rioja wines are aged in oak barrels which gives it a vanilla characteristic.  The tempranillo is the primary grape used to make this amazing wine.  Enjoy!
