Santa Fe Restaurant, Hilton Head Island

Santa Fe Restaurant in Hilton Head Island, SC is our favorite restaurant on the island.  It is a real treat to be swept away to the smells of a real New Mexico Adobe fire pit.  The smokey pit flavors all of their amazing entrees.  The choice of many men including my dear sweet husband is the Cowboy Ribeye.  This piece of meat resembles a Fred Flintsone dinner of a side of a cow.  I mean huge!  Steve powered through every bite enjoying each bite as much as the first.  We have yet to find another restaurant that knocks this dish out of the park like Santa Fe does.  It is a real "manly" experience.  I chose a more manageable dish other than the one I usually get which is a pork chop like no other smeared in a glaze that is smoky and sweet at the same time.  It is served with Mashed sweet potatoes, covered in fried tobacco onions and suited up with an armor of black beans.  Instead I chose to be adventurous and try a filet and lobster surf and turf fajita of all things.  The filet was like butter as they say and the lobster made this a very decadent fajita.
I think my favorite dish was the starter of Southwest painted corn, red pepper ancho chile creamed soup.  The design you can see in the picture above.  It was like a piece of art.  I hated to disrupt it's beauty.  Well, at least until the first bite, then it was all over.  So many great flavors all at once dancing around your mouth it was like one big party in there, and the ever so perfect balance of heat left you so satisfied and warmed up.
Our waiter Brett was amazing he took great care of us and treated us to their fabulous ceviche which is one of the best I have ever had.  Tangy with the perfect citrus punch.  As if we didn't eat enough, as we were busting at the seams, Brett wanted to top us off with a delicious piece of the ever refreshing key lime pie.  After all the smoky and flavorful spicy dishes, this was the perfect ending of refreshment.
All I can say is thanks Brett, see you again soon!!
Delicioso!
